Newsletter Autumn Term 1

A big welcome back to all our existing families and an even bigger welcome to our new ones. We hope you all had a wonderful summer holiday.

A big THANK YOU to all of you who came along to our Family Fun day. All the children had a super time. We would like to say a huge thank you to all the people who helped either by running a stall or clearing away at the end. We raised very nearly £500. This money was put towards paying for our trip to Kingsbury Water Park

Our new website is up and running thanks to a lot of hard work from Lesley over the summer. Please take time to look at the Pre-school website as it provides lots of useful information to existing parents as well as prospective ones. Something is posted most weeks and it’s a great way of keeping up to date with what is happening here. We are also on Facebook. Could we ask you to please like and share our Facebook page with your friends.

Thank you so much for all the kind words and generous end of year gifts. We are currently trying to sort a date for our staff meal out.

Don’t forget to look at your child’s individual learning journal to see all the exciting things that they do whilst at Pre-school. You can add your own photographs and comment on the postings that your child’s key person has made. If you experience any problems logging on to your child’s Learning Journal please speak to Cathy.

Don’t forget that we offer a breakfast club for families that need wrap-around care in the mornings. The club starts at 08:30 and runs until 09:15. Breakfast, consisting of toast or cereal, is available and the cost is just £5.00 per session. Sessions can be booked on a regular or a one off basis. Please speak to Cathy to book a place.

Please make sure your child’s lunch box and drinks bottle are clearly named and their lunches do not include any products that may contain nuts. We have signed up to the NHS Change4Life Startwell Healthy Eating and Being Active Programme so we ask that you do not put any sweets or fizzy/energy drinks into their lunch box. We also request that no cakes, sweets or other edible treats are sent in by parents to celebrate their child’s birthday.

Unfortunately Claire Jephcott has decided not to return to Pre-school after the birth of her third child so we are advertising for her replacement. We are looking for a childcare qualified person to work 15-20 hours per week, starting after half term. If you know of anyone who might be interested in joining our team please ask them to speak to Cathy for more information and an application pack.

Holy Trinity Pre-School is a registered charity and is governed by a voluntary Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees is responsible for the operation of Pre-school and acts as the Trustee of the charity. The Board meets every half term to support the work of the pre-school staff and to organise fundraising and social events. We are a bit short of members and would really appreciate your support. If you are interested in helping or if you would like more information please speak to Cathy.

Can you help? As you know we are a non-profit making charity which relies on the support of our parents and volunteer trustees. Do you have a skill set or the access to resources that might benefit our Pre-school? Please speak to Cathy or Lesley if you think you can help

Fundraising is a very important part of the Board of Trustee’s role at Pre-School. If you work for a bank or finance company, they may match our fundraising. Please let us know if you can help!

We will be holding an information evening in November (date to be confirmed) to introduce the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS) and explain how we help children learn at Holy Trinity. We will talk about the importance of play and how children learn through play. We will discuss the importance of speaking and listening to the development of your child and how we encourage a partnership between Pre-school and home so we can give each child the best possible start to their lifelong journey of learning. A presentation will be given by a Teacher from a local primary school on the importance of getting children ready for their
 transition into school.

Please can we ask you to check that all your child’s clothing is labelled – jumpers, cardigans, coats, hats etc. The staff are pretty good at remembering which coat belongs to which child but it is quite difficult with 30 pairs of mittens! It is also difficult for grandparents who pick up children if possessions are not named.

We understand parking can be difficult at times and ask parents to either park in the designated spaces in the car park or park respectfully and safely on St. Bernards Road. Please never park in the spaces marked “YMCA staff only” near the Pre-school front door. Please ensure you drive down the driveway especially slowly and carefully because of the very young children accessing Pre-school.

Penny, from Carousel Photography, will be in Pre-school on Tuesday 19th November to take beautiful individual photographs of the children. If you child does not normally attend on a Tuesday please feel free to bring them in between 9.30-10.00am. Penny will stay until 4.30pm to provide parents with the opportunity to bring in school age children for family/sibling photographs. If you want to take advantage of this service you need to let Cathy know. Family photographs will be taken on a first come first served basis.
